About Lanark Renfrew Health & Community Services
Lanark Renfrew Health & Community Services (LRHCS) is an integrated organization that includes 3 "Parts" - Lanark Community Programs, North Lanark Community Health Centre, and Whitewater Bromley Community Health Centre. Our corporate office is co-located at the North Lanark Community Health Centre in the Village of Lanark. While each "Part" of LRHCS has its own target populations, range of health and social services, funders, geographic catchment areas and histories, all "Parts' are governed by one community-based Board of Directors, with a Senior Management Team, and are guided by core set of: Beliefs, Vision, and Mission; policies and procedures that set standards for accessibility, privacy, health and Safety etc.; strategic priorities; collaborative team structure; and service commitments.
Collectively, we offer a broad range of health and social programs and services across a vast, predominantly rural, geographic area in eastern Ontario. Each “Part” of LRHCS also shares the following community features: low population density; large geographic distances between towns (on secondary and tertiary roads); rich natural heritage (lakes, rivers, forests); abundance of outdoor recreational activities (hunting, fishing, ATV, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, snow sports); small-scale resource-based industries (farming, forestry, mining, etc.), school bussing for almost all children/youth; aging population; working age commuters; no comprehensive, local media and communications infrastructure; and little or no access to public transportation.
Lanark Community Programs (LCP) provides support services to children and families, especially those made more vulnerable by developmental, physical or economic limitations. The home-base for Lanark Community Programs is located in Carleton Place. The population served, depending on the program, can include residents of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties, and parts of Renfrew County. LCP provides the following programs and services: Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA); Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI); Behaviour Development; Connections (Birth Companions; Good Food for a Healthy Baby; Home Visiting; Parent/Child Drop-ins); Infant and Child Development; Lanark Early Integration; Speech and Language; Family Relief; Therapeutic Riding.
The two Community Health Centres (North Lanark and Whitewater Bromley) provide a wide range of primary health care, community development initiatives and health promotion programs to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Additionally, the North Lanark CHC sponsors the “Mental Health Support Project” - a membership-driven peer-support program for individuals with mental health struggles.
